Reported from Tung Ping Chau (Ref. 94637, 119714); and the Cape D'Aguilar Marine Reserve (Ref. 129329). Also reported from coral areas and rocky reefs in Port Island, Nam She Wan, Sharp Island, and Shelter Island. Only a single individual was seen at each site. A popular species in the aquarium trade (Ref. 128523). Observed on 2 to 10 occasions during 400 dive surveys on artificial reefs (Ref. 119494). Sold in live fish markets (Ref. 125552).
